The Best Wedding Venues in Culver City, CA: Only 4 Make Our List (2026 Guide)

By YK Editorial Team · Published · Updated

Quick answer

Culver City's wedding venue scene is small but real: four verified spaces cover a 1924 boutique hotel, a 148-room design hotel with a glass ballroom, a floor-to-ceiling rooftop on Washington Boulevard, and a raw black-box studio near Playa Vista. Starting prices run from about $12,000 to $15,000 for the space alone, and two of the four require you to bring your own caterer. Book the date 11 to 14 months out, since this city has far fewer options than neighboring Santa Monica or Downtown LA.

The Culver Hotel

Culver City doesn't have a big wedding-venue scene. It has a tight one. Walk the few blocks of downtown Washington Boulevard and you'll pass a 1924 hotel where Judy Garland is said to have stayed during the filming of The Wizard of Oz, a glass-walled design hotel built on top of a Metro stop, and a rooftop space with retractable walls three floors up. That's most of it. We checked every venue that markets itself as a Culver City wedding space, and only four actually have a real address inside the city, a live website, and a second independent listing to back them up. One well-known "Culver City" favorite didn't make the cut, and we'll tell you exactly why below.

How we checked these four

We confirmed each venue's own website, cross-checked it against at least one independent listing (The Knot, Zola, Wedding-Spot or the venue's event-booking platform), and pulled the street address against Culver City's own list of event venues. A venue that only claims to "serve the Culver City area" without an address inside city limits didn't make the list.

1. The Culver Hotel

Address: 9400 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232 Reputation: 5.0 rating on The Knot, though from only one posted review there, so treat that score as a small sample. Style: A restored 1924 landmark hotel with 46 rooms and seven event spaces, including the Grand Lobby, a garden patio, the Crystal Dining Room, and a former bank vault now used as a cocktail bar. Price range (dated, sourced): Around $15,000 for a buyout per its Zola venue listing (checked October 2026). Wedding-Spot notes the reception itself carries a food-and-beverage minimum instead of a flat rental fee, with 5 hours of event time before setup and teardown. Best for: Couples who want a real historic landmark without leaving Culver City, and who are fine with a smaller guest list, up to about 100 seated. Good to know: Parking is valet only according to third-party wedding directories, so budget for that cost separately. No in-house lighting or sound package and no dedicated bridal suite are listed on Zola, so confirm what your rental fee actually includes.

2. The Shay, A Destination by Hyatt

Address: 8801 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232 Reputation: Listed on The Knot and WeddingWire as a Culver City wedding venue; a couple's review on file says they used the Ivy Courtyard for their ceremony and cocktail hour. Style: A 148-room boutique hotel inside the Ivy Station development, built around 35 locally commissioned murals and art installations, with on-site dining from Michelin-starred chef Danny Grant's restaurant group, per the hotel's 2021 opening announcement. Price range (dated, sourced): Pricing on request. No public starting rate for the event space as of October 2026. Best for: Couples who want a modern hotel wedding with a built-in art-walk feel and guests who'll want to stay over, since it sits right next to the Culver City Metro E Line stop. Good to know: Capacity figures don't agree. Wedding marketplaces list the partitioned Ivy Ballroom at up to about 120 seated with a dance floor, while venue-booking site The Vendry lists the full combined ballroom at up to 360 seated. Ask which configuration your quote assumes before you commit to a guest count.

3. Palm Sophia Rooftop

Address: 5965 Washington Blvd, 3rd Floor, Culver City, CA 90232 Reputation: About 4 out of 5.0 on The Knot from a handful of reviews. One couple wrote that the open, airy space and the views made the day feel like what they'd dreamed of, and credited their venue contact for being responsive. Style: An 8,000-square-foot event floor with floor-to-ceiling glass and retractable glass doors that open onto a rooftop terrace with city views, run by Piovra Group. It includes a full commercial kitchen for outside caterers and a second-floor bridal suite. Price range (dated, sourced): Pricing on request. No public starting rate found as of October 2026. Best for: Couples who want an open, light-filled rooftop look without a hotel attached, and who already have a caterer in mind. Good to know: This is a bring-your-own-caterer space, not an all-inclusive venue, so your food and beverage minimum lives in a separate contract. It's also newer to wedding-marketplace reviews than the other three, so ask for recent client references directly.

4. Playa Studios

Address: 11260 Playa Court, Culver City, CA 90230 Reputation: 5.0 rating on Zola, where it's listed as an Awarded Best of Zola venue. Style: A raw, black-box event space owned by music-production company Mophonics, with tall ceilings and a built-in sound system, according to Here Comes The Guide. Price range (dated, sourced): Starts around $12,000 for up to 225 guests, per its Zola listing (checked October 2026). Best for: Couples planning a build-your-own, warehouse-style wedding who want full creative control over décor and layout. Good to know: No on-site parking and no all-inclusive dining, according to Zola reviewers, and pets aren't allowed. You'll need to budget separately for a rental caterer, even though the kitchen space is included.

The catch

The venue everyone mentions for a "Culver City" wedding, SmogShoppe, isn't actually in Culver City. Its own website lists its address as 2651 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90034, a few minutes away in the Palms neighborhood. It's a beautiful, well-reviewed space, and if you're open to Westside LA generally it's worth a look. But it doesn't belong on a guide about Culver City specifically, so we left it off this list instead of fudging the city line.

That leaves a real supply problem: four venues, and two of them (Palm Sophia and Playa Studios) are bring-your-own-caterer raw space, which means your total cost is the rental plus a separate full catering bill, not one all-in number. Popular Saturday dates at the two hotel venues get real competition from corporate and birthday bookings too, since neither one is wedding-exclusive.

What to do now

Call or email all four within the same week so you're comparing real quotes, not old listings. Ask each venue directly for its current capacity by configuration, whether in-house catering is required or banned, and what the deposit and cancellation terms are, since none of that is consistent across these four.

Vendors who track venue bookings nationally say couples lock in their venue before any other vendor, typically 11 to 14 months out. With only four real options in Culver City proper, popular Saturday dates can disappear faster than that, especially at The Shay and The Culver Hotel.

If none of these four fit your guest count or budget, West LA and Santa Monica is the next closest market with far more supply, and our LA and OC wedding venue cost guide breaks down what you'll pay there by tier. Still deciding between an indoor ballroom and an outdoor space generally? Our indoor vs. outdoor venue guide walks through the real tradeoffs.

Once your venue is booked, browse vetted photographers, caterers and planners on YK who already know how to work these rooms, starting with our Santa Monica and West LA photographer guide for teams who regularly shoot nearby. Frequently asked questions

What's the average price for a wedding venue in Culver City?

Culver City's four verified wedding venues range from about $12,000 to $15,000 for the space alone, based on their Zola listings as of October 2026. The Shay and Palm Sophia Rooftop don't publish a starting rate, so request a quote directly. Budget separately for catering at Palm Sophia and Playa Studios, since neither includes food service.

Do Culver City wedding venues include catering?

Not usually. Palm Sophia Rooftop and Playa Studios are both bring-your-own-caterer spaces with a kitchen for your outside caterer to use. The Culver Hotel's reception pricing is built around a food-and-beverage minimum instead, which points to in-house catering, so confirm that directly with the hotel.

Is SmogShoppe actually in Culver City?

No. SmogShoppe's own website lists its address as 2651 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90034, in the Palms neighborhood of LA, not inside Culver City. It's still a well-reviewed venue, just not a Culver City one, so we left it off this list.

How far ahead should I book a Culver City wedding venue?

Couples nationally lock in their venue first, typically 11 to 14 months before the wedding, according to WeddingPro's vendor guidance. Culver City has only four venues that meet our verification bar, so popular Saturday dates can go even earlier than that.

Is there parking at Culver City wedding venues?

It varies by venue. The Culver Hotel is valet-only according to third-party wedding directories, and Playa Studios has no on-site parking according to Zola reviewers. Ask Palm Sophia Rooftop and The Shay directly about their parking setup before you book.
